How to keep Texting Terrorist at bay with Android...

In this Social and Networking age most are very quick to give their Digital ID's out without to much real thought of a possible aftermath, Often times this is done mainly because it is so much easier then looking around for a piece of paper and a pen. Texting is so much quicker than calling most of the time, because hey you just never really know if the other person can talk at the moment.

However, from your first text to someone, you've just given that person an All Access Pass to you, compete with the 24/7 Open Door Policy fully in effect. But wait, what happens when you want to revoke that All Access Pass! So, lets say for whatever reason you need to close that Open Door Policy and the other party is not ready to accept that closing door. Well now you're going to start experiencing the effects of the,

Texting Terrorist

The Texting Terrorist is relentless, sometime you wonder, how the hell does someone text so fast :-), one after the other, non-stop; even after you made it clear that you want them to Stop Texting you, they believe they can still text you because, well lets face it You Gave Them The Number. They will continue to text you, some time it will be just stupid stuff or maybe even deformation of character, you know trying to put you on Blast, or just plain ole begging, trying to get you to re-open the door, to give them the All Access Pass they somehow took for granted one to many times and abused it, and you just couldn't take it anymore, and shut em down.

Just relax, don't go changing your number (that will cost you) Be easy! All is not lost with regards to your Peace of Mind, you can fight the Texting Terrorist by getting to the root of thier Terrorist Acts (those annoying text) This method is basically for the "Android Community" so if you have an Android Phone you don't have to put up with the Texting Terrorist any longer.

There is an App that will stop any unwanted Text from harassing you:

First get this App (Handcent SMS) from the Market - Its Free (if you're reading this on your phone just click the link and the Market will open, just Install.)

This is as the name implies a Texting App, it is one of the first Apps I install whenever I get or upgrade my AnDroid, this one has so many features that you're sure to make this your default Texting App. Once the app is installed and before opening it, you want to open your old or stock texting app, go into its "Settings" and Un-check everything; Auto retrieve... everything. Out Of Sight Out Of Mind!

Now you can open up your new Default Texting App (Handcent SMS), once opened you should be able to see all your previous texts, look for the person you no longer want to hear from via Text message, "Long Press" and choose "Blacklist" read the notification pop up and choose OK. You're done, that person's present and future Text will be invisible to you, they will all go straight to the "Blacklist" Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind!

Voice-Mail Madness

Now, if they get real Stupid and want to call you REPEATEDLY, open up their Contact info, press Menu > Options > put a check mark next to > Incoming Calls > Send incoming calls straight to voice-mail, with this feature all calls from that person will go directly to voice-mail and you wont even be notified.

In my next installment of "Now U Know" I will have a few tips for Students and what AnDroid Apps will make it much easier to Gather, and Neatly arrange all your Research information.
